Kern County Museum
Kern County Museum is located in Bakersfield, California (The same city where Sjostrom's 1928 film The Wind was shot) The museum is situated over 16 acres, it's main focus is on the architectural history of Kern County, with the museum containing over 50 original buildings from around the county. The buildings were literally picked up, placed on a back of transport and moved to the site.
The museum dates back to 1929, but the outbreak of world war two delayed the opening until 1945.
The collection 'Pioneer Village' holds many historical examples including, a school house, photography studio, train station, hotel, courthouse, office, original wood cabin and Sod house.
The focus of my visit and photographic investigation was to shoot historical homes taken out of context from there original landscape position.
